The western gateway to the park, this abandoned mining town was revived in the late 1960s as a host to world-famous chili cook-offs. Today, it’s a hub for artists, naturalists, and musicians, plus outfitters like Desert Sports, which specializes in custom biking, rafting, and hiking adventures.
